So there was this 5k

Lessons learned:

Look at the route beforehand. That thing was all hills. Just when you thought “I’ll make it to this turn and it will be downhill” there was a other hill. Also I felt like it was never going end because I didn’t know where I was. Once we actually hit the Zoo grounds I knew it was almost over.

Plan water better. They didn’t have a water station until there was a mile left. WTF does that? Although getting overheated and loosing feeling in my leg meant that I didn’t feel, the shin splints.

Bring someone who has your back. No matter how annoyed he was, Texas stayed with me the whole way. Our friend finished in 30 minutes. We took an hour and eleven.

Training for it might be good idea. Just winging it was a little crazy.  Especially since I haven’t done Jiu jitsu in a year.

Next up? The Bike MS150. You can still donate here .  I’ll be doing the drawing on the 8th. So, share on social media with #MakeSquishRide or donate at least $10 to get a chance to win.

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Prizes! I have PRIZES!!!!

No, really.  Texas and I are riding in the Bike MS 150 in May of this year.  Well, Texas is,  I haven’t raised enough moolah yet.  So this is where I need your help.  Please donate.

Right here is where you can find my page.  I need to raise $300 to ride.  I need to raise this by April 7th so I can pick up our rider packets close to our house instead of an hour and a half away. (Yes, I want to avoid a 3 hour round trip. Call me crazy)

To try and bribe all y’all to donate, I’m going to give something away. For every $10 that is donated, you get an entry in a drawing.  The winner will have a choice between a Fire Stick, an Amazon Dot, or a Stitched By JessaLu regular wedge or box bag (you pick, I’ll pay). If I get to $500, I’ll pick two winners.

Since a bunch of you came through for Texas too, I’ll also enter anyone who donated to him.

So here is the breakdown:

  • Donate $10 = get an entry
  • Share the link on FB, Twitter and IG with #MakeSquishRide = get an entry
  • Share on your blog and let me know = get an entry

I know you all have come through in the past for helping raise money to find a cure, not only for MS, but for NMO. I am always grateful for your generosity.

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Weekend Getaway

After watching my mom and I have fun taking classes, Nacogdoches finally gave in and decided to try rigid heddle weaving. ( I may be enabling encouraging friends lately – hi Mo and D!) Even though I’ve taken the beginner’s class, she wanted me to tag along.

We stayed at the Post Oak RV park in the cutest little cabin. There are tiny houses for rent in the area and I may do that next time. I finished my last  Spunky Club weaving while there, so I am back on track. (details here

Nacogdoches got me that pair of socks in the upper left corner. How true they are.  That bit of pink in the bottom corner is a gift from the lovely Maureen.  Socks, hankies to spin and a project bag. I also recently received a pen from Cheryl that her husband made. That thing is ah-mazeing! If I can get a link to his stuff, I will share it here. He makes some beautiful wood projects.

Happy Monday y’all! I’m off to L.A. For the week. What do you have planned?

My, we are getting old.

I was going to pose this Saturday, but life.

Our JessaLu has been blogging for 12 years now and if you go over there and comment, you have a chance to win one of her fabulous bags. Mention me and I get a bonus entry. 50 comments and she adds another prize to the pool.
I started this blog about 6 months before her, but there are a bunch of us from the “Class of  2005” that are still around. Some of us post a bunch, and some of us aren’t that consistent (because FB and Twitter and Ravelry or life).

I’d like to make a better effort to blog again because I would like a slower pace. Everything on FB and Twitter is instantaneous. I’ve shut off my phone notifications for both and have been making an effort to step away a little. I noticed I was reposting a ton of memes instead of quality posts. I really enjoy those “memories” that pop up every day and I’d like to see my life instead of something meaningless.

I’m totally not doing a “new year, new me” post. I’ve just noticed things in my life that I would like to change.

Like getting this weaving going. This will be the first project on Mama Cass. (Someone reminded me that I need to name my lovelies)

Happy Monday y’all!

Hai! Happy New Year?

Or should I say Happy Random Tuesday in January? I’m being held hostage by the promise of someone coming to fix the air conditioning. Because it might get to 80F this week. Homie don’t sleep hot.

It is that time of year again. What used to be Cookie Made Me Do It has become Cow Made Me Do It.

So the Holy Mother of All Crankiness is making me clear out some of my WIPs and she made me cast on a sweater. In Noro. I must have committed some huge sin.*

I might, might, do a post of everything I finhed last year, but don’t hold your breath. What are you working on today.

Happy Tuesday y’all!

* I’m actually enjoying knitting with some bigger yarn and the sin may be blaming her. However, she drug me into mittens years ago and will never live it down.

Another weekend camping

We went to the same place, but alone this time. It was cloudy and cool and we spent all day Saturday around the fire. There was knitting and kanoodling. No kayaking or fishing because of all the cold. Cold for us wussies down here anyway.

We had been planning on doing a longer trip over Thanksgiving, but with highs in the low 50’s and lows in the mid-30’s, I voted that down.

If you noticed, I am wearing my Team Ever After Hat. Please consider donating to either of our Bike MS 150 rides. Even $5 makes a difference.

Happy Thursday y’all.

November Goals

Because we all gotta have them, right?

Wax my wood
Assemble my new loom
Put October’s Spunky Eclectic project on the old loom and weave a row or two.
Figure out how I’m going to finish off my last woven project
Work on thing that was going to be for my swap partner, but I never finished.
Go camping

Speaking of that last woven project.
