I’m special and I know it
Sep 19th, 2012 by Stacey
Just 2 of the special snowflakes.
They are buff ducks and all of them, except the male pure blood are really “special”. We also have 4 buff mixes that live with them. The male buff mix is crossed with a mallard. Mighty ugly duck. He’s going to be our first duck dinner. One of our friends is going to show us what we need to do. Or rather, show Texas what to do. I’ll be knitting with the wife on the front porch.
One of many to be made. Don’t ask. Also, I won’t bore you with endless pictures each time I make one.

Would have been done in one day, but Jayna doesn’t let me knit when I come to visit. Or something. I need to get more eyes. I would say she needs a blog, but I don’t have time right now to keep up with the ones I want to keep up with. Besides, she’d never update it.
I had time this morning to return email and blog. WTH happened there?
Did I mention we have 18 duck eggs in the incubator? We don’t know what they’re going to be, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough. In about 2 weeks they start hatching.
No, the first batch didn’t come out. I think we have some wildly fertile males now. If the morning romp in the “hot tub” is any indication.
Yes, we do call the pool their hot tub.
What?!? I have to entertain myself somehow out here.
Happy Wednesday y’all!
Mallard crosses are so common. My husband’s family kept waterfowl when he was younger, and his dad claimed that a male mallard would try to have sex with a chain if you dragged it across the yard.
I know some men like that, come to think of it!
Wildly fertile?
Yeah, I’m not visiting anytime soon…
Lmao @ previous comments. Of course they’re special – they are the duck equivalent of blonde.
That owl is so hilarious I could die. Must make some.
Tell Janna hi. I still have that message saved on my phone.
Mmmm…special duck dinner!
Love the owl! Yes, make millions of them. Then again, I might be the wrong person to be giving advice on the matter of knitting little critters. xo
