I told you there was a boy in the bunch.  He just had to do a little growing and molting.  Oh, and get his drake feather.

Highlights of the day so far? Duck sex and watching a duck lay an egg.  The laying thing was kind of cool. The sex thing is old hat by now.

I’m fixin’ ta do some brush hogging. Riding around on the tractor makes me happy.  I pop my ipod in and no one bothers me. Sometimes I throw some knitting in my bag and sit WAY in the back, just listening to the wildlife.

I keep telling Texas that a four wheeler would be good for cruising the property and would soothe me just as much as the tractor.

He says it would need a full roll cage and racing seat belt before he would let me on it.

Another FO. What is going on around here? I mean really!

  • Pattern: All from mah head (Ravelry stuff here)
  • Yarn: Noro Kuryeon (again from a Nacaknitter ripped project)
  • Needles: Denise US 11 and bamboo 10 3/4
  • Start: 9/10/12
  • Finish: 9/19/12

I just knit a flat bottom, picked up stitches and knit in the round. I think I’ve done enough bags to have this down pat. I made more pronounced corners by dropping a stitch at each one and then picking up two floats at a time.  I might add something to the bottom to firm it up a bit. If I get a round tuit, I might even make a lining. Or not.

I tried. I mean really tried to do a mini mochi thing with US1′s.  I’m leaving that crap up to the crazy people. (yeah, I’m looking at you Sarah!) Maybe I’ll use bigger yarn and needles and make a not-mini mochi.

Hope y’all have an o-some Thursday!

    Love the bag!
Your post reminded me of 2 things:

    1. At a motel in Michigan, we met a man who used to be a dairy farmer. He said that not long after he got married, he had his wife drive a hay tractor up a hill. When she got to the top, she turned it, and it rolled. She was OK, but the tractor and trailer were pretty mangled.

    2. My mother used to have a round wooden coin (about the size of a poker chip) that had “tuit” printed on it.

You might be becoming a full-fledged Texan if:
1 Sex on the farm is old hat
2 You say (and write) “I’m fixin ta”
    And most important:
3 You know what a brush hog is & how to use it

Love the new bag. Someday, you & I need to discuss floats – what they are and how to pick them up. :)

Cute bag. Tell him if he doesn’t get you a four wheeler stat you’re going to learn to pop wheelies in the tractor.

I can’t believe all y’all don’t have a pick-up by now. Tell him you need something 4-wheel drive. Do not make me text him. /ahem

    Cute bag!

    Mallards!

I understand that one of those little Japanese mini trucks are even better than the four wheelers. You can have the 4WD, seat belts, the a/c and heat, and the cost is comparable. I’m super-serious, if you are looking for something for cruising on the farm, these are so neat and you might want to check them out.

I love the bag, and the dropping of stitches and picking up bit for the corners is a great idea!

Do you need me to knit something for you? xoxoxoxo
