Prizes! I have PRIZES!!!!

No, really.  Texas and I are riding in the Bike MS 150 in May of this year.  Well, Texas is,  I haven’t raised enough moolah yet.  So this is where I need your help.  Please donate.

Right here is where you can find my page.  I need to raise $300 to ride.  I need to raise this by April 7th so I can pick up our rider packets close to our house instead of an hour and a half away. (Yes, I want to avoid a 3 hour round trip. Call me crazy)

To try and bribe all y’all to donate, I’m going to give something away. For every $10 that is donated, you get an entry in a drawing.  The winner will have a choice between a Fire Stick, an Amazon Dot, or a Stitched By JessaLu regular wedge or box bag (you pick, I’ll pay). If I get to $500, I’ll pick two winners.

Since a bunch of you came through for Texas too, I’ll also enter anyone who donated to him.

So here is the breakdown:

  • Donate $10 = get an entry
  • Share the link on FB, Twitter and IG with #MakeSquishRide = get an entry
  • Share on your blog and let me know = get an entry

I know you all have come through in the past for helping raise money to find a cure, not only for MS, but for NMO. I am always grateful for your generosity.

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Thoughts from an airplane

Mmmm. Warm, salty nuts. I think I’ll have to start warming mine at home. I think they taste better.

I was wondering before flight how many free drinks were enough? I didn’t even have to wonder, those bitches kept my wine glass full. The.whole.way.

I think my seat mate is some type of MMA dude. He smells good too. Seriously good.

How about some more swag? Those Guthy Jackson people are awesome. Info on how to win and how to donate is a couple posts below.

Yes, Christine Ha stopped by to speak to us. You do know she has NMO and that caused her blindness, right?

Just wanted to throw this out there before I hop on the plane and pass out.

Happy Thursday y’all

Where did that pile of cow pookie come from?

Hi! Life! It decided to throw an unexpected curveball. I can’t talk specifics, but all good thoughts/ intentions/ prayers/ lighting of candles/ dancing naked under the full moon (whatever it is you do) and such would be greatly appreciated.

You, however, get a bonus out of all of this messy stuff going on over here. An extra week to spread the word and donate!

Some of you know that the Guthy Jackson Charitable Foundation has a patient day for us every year. Starting the weekend before, they have all of the doctors and scientists and great minds from all over the world get together and share their knowledge with each other. That’s one of the premises of receiving money from the Foundation is that they HAVE to share with each other what they’ve learned. Kind of an awesome research model. I wonder what would happen if more research was done this way.

Anyway, the docs and scientists are doing that this weekend and patient day is next week, so…. I won’t be able to get information out of anyone until that’s all said and done. Unless I possibly badger and abuse the awesome staff while I’m at patient day. I actually don’t know if I have it in me to do that.

Prizes are in a post somewhere down below and you now have until November 8th to donate.

How do you get a chance to win?

Click here to go to the Guthy Jackson donation page, choose “Memorial Donation” and put Stacey Pope in the “purpose” section.  For every $10 you donate, you’ll get one entry. If you share this contest on Facebook, Twitter or wherever (and let me know), you’ll get another entry.

Deadline to enter is November 1, 2013 November 8 (12 noon Texas time) and I’ll be announcing the winners on November 2, 2013. November 9th

Spread the word! Donate what you can. Win some awesome yarn.

I still can’t pronounce it right

I just returned from 3 days in Dallas, (that felt more like a week) after attending the Rare Neuro-Immunologic Disorders Symposium.  It centered on repair and recovery and most of all, hope.  At the end of this post, you can find the information on how to donate to people with one of these disorders and get a chance to win some prizes.

Friday night, Texas and I had a lovely dinner and spent some time shopping in the big city. Saturday, we ended up attending The Halloween Block Party in Dallas. It was either that or get a contact high from our neighbors at the hotel. Anywho, despite the rain, it was so much fun. I can’t decide which pictures to post.

I’m only about 9 days out from attending patient day in Los Angeles and I might have to spend that time recovering from all the things.  Well, and finishing a couple of knitting projects.

Donate and win!

As many of you know, raising money to find a cure for Neuromyelitis optica is near and dear to my heart because I suffer from NMO. (I might even be in that video up there)

What is it, you ask?

NMO stands for neuromyelitis optica, originally known as Devic’s Disease. NMO is an incurable autoimmune disorder. The body’s immune system attacks its own healthy cells, most commonly in the optic nerves and spinal cord. It can cause temporary or permanent blindness and/or paralysis, and may have periods of remission and relapse.

Happy Sunday y’all!

p.s. There is a rumor that I may be getting the dye pot out and adding some Merino/Cashmere yarn to the prizes in the coming week.

The winner! For real this time!

In total, $450 was donated by y’all.  I am so grateful for every.single.person. that made a donation or shared this fundraiser.  Thank you all so much!

Here’s what my contact at the foundation said

As you will see, it was a great fundraiser and raised a great amount for NMO research.

Thanks for everything that you did and continue to do.  As in the past, everyone on the list will receive a letter from the foundation that can be used for taxes.

Did you know, that the Guthy Jackson family has donated over 20 million of their own money? Do you know how hard it is to raise money for an orphan disease? Did you know that the foundation is changing the face of medical research? Their “share your information or you don’t get money” approach has eliminated duplication and is making people in the medical community talk about it.

Imagine if we could get every disease worked on this way.

The Judges

What the hell did you put in here with us?!?

Picking the winner

The winner is… ANGIE!!!!!!

1) Don’t call her house during election season… the Wilson is very protective of our Angie

2) Y’all must meet her sometime.  She is the most lovely person.  Plan a trip to WI Sheep and Wool next year and plan a meet up.  Really.  If her dinner hadn’t been ready, I could have talked for hours.

3) She can make me cry tears of happiness and not even know it.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.  (yes, my cold dark heart, but whatever) Remember you can donate anytime.  Here’s to next year! (and a return to my non-knitting, non-blogging life)

Happy Saturday y’all!

p.s. Did you know that they are also trying to get on with the Combined Federal Campaign? So all you people out there who know what that is, look for the Guthy Jackson Charitable Foundation.

Get your chicks for free

For some reason, I cannot get that song out of my head.

Perhaps it is the 8 chicks that have been running around the bathtub and various plastic bins. Oh, and there are more eggs with pips.  (send help, don’t tell Texas) I’m thinking of changing Ozzy’s name to Lurch.  He is HUGE!  As in Kitten’s whole head is the size of just his beak. (bill? whatever)

I spent Saturday and Sunday trying to relax and get caught up.  Yeah, it didn’t quite happen like that.  There may have been a tiny party with a bonfire. I cannot confirm nor deny.

We got started on season one of The Borgias.  Seriously. Go watch. Now.

Monday, I spent doing all the things. The most fun was the duct tape and painters plastic.  What?

Today, I may actually read some blogs and knit some stuff need to go renew my registration, deliver some eggs, and catch up on email.

What are you doing today?
