I have to grow up?

Thank you again to everyone. It was great fun and the packages of yarn went out yesterday. Even though I value each and every opinion and suggestion offered… sometimes the internet Gods know all. *gigglesnort*

You Should Be an Artist

You are incredibly creative, spontaneous, and unique.
No one can guess what you’re going to do next, but it’s usually something amazing. You can’t deal with routine, rules, or structure. You’re easily bored. As long as you are able to innovate and break the rules, you are extremely successful. You do best when you:- Can work by yourself

- Can express your personality in your work

You would also be a good journalist or actor.

And the winners are….

11. Jenni! ARRRGH! You’ve won the Yarn Pirate!

26. Awesome Mom! You’re going to be cruisin’ the KnitPicks Carribean.

62. Karen! You get the wonderful Wooly Wonka!

The Big PIMPin’ contest winner – Wow… this one turned out to be harder then I thought. I tried to bring mom into it and make her pick out of my finalists and she couldn’t. So, to make it fair, I had her pick her favorites out of all, I picked mine, threw you all into a bowl and voila! The winner is: kmkat.

(note to self, next time just give out an extra random prize because that was WAY too hard)

I’ve sent you all email, so you may have to check your spam folders.

This really was a lot of fun for me. Thank you all for participating. I wish I could have sent a skein of yarn to everyone. Are there any yarn retailers out there that want to pimp a new yarn? I only need 75 skeins. Come on… help some knitters out.

sunday! SUNDAY! sunday!

Come to the fairgrounds to see the monster trucks!

*ahem*

I don’t know where that came from either. Remember, you have until today at 4 p.m. Pacific to enter the contest. Enter now and enter often. I’ll be announcing the winners sunday! SUNDAY! sunday!

Since it’s all blue skies out here (and sunny, oh! and in the 80’s) I was really struggling for a non-boring Saturday Sky picture.

OOOH! Easily distracted by the size of the ginormous hollyhock leaf. (that’s a dime on the leaf)

Clearly, I’ve lost my mind.

Have a great weekend – what ever it is you do or don’t celebrate! I’ll be thinking of you while I’m catching some rays!

WIP Wednesday…pssst…what day is it?

Wow!  You all are coming up with some great job options!  I’m working at responding to everyone and adding some great unknown to me blogs to bloglines.  Don’t forget, you have until this Saturday at 4 p.m Pacific to put in your suggestion.  Yes, you can enter more than once.  I kind of mentioned an extra prize at the bottom of the contest post.  There are some contenders, so I’m going to make it official… (drum roll please)

The Big PIMPin’ prize!

The entry that makes me pee in my pants will win some Malabrigo Lace.  Yes, thats right.  Remember that little shopping spree I went on… well I’m going to give some of it up.   Two skeins of this lovely stuff.  Tailored to the winner’s color preferences.  (this picture is not the actual prize, it is just being used to show the colors I have)

 Mmmmalabrigo

So, what are you still doing here?  Go back to the other post and keep throwing ideas out there.

I may or may not be using this post as a diversion for my lack of knitting progress.  Heck, my lack of doing anything creative.  I’d love to say “there’s a lot going on!  Busy, busy, busy!”  But really, I’m just plugging along with the medical stuff and in a generalized funk. (don’t even ask about my apparent lack of math and/or record keeping skills disaster)

I’m thinking of forcing the old one to prep the vegetable bed so I can sit and play in the dirt this weekend.  Yes, you can plant one handed.  Yes, sometimes dirt does make it all better.

As does reading everyone’s wonderful suggestions.

A joke and a contest!

And a completely unoriginal post title. Hey! Waddya want from me? We all can’t be witty and charming every day.

Creation vs Evolution has been settled!

A little girl asked her mother, “How did the human race come about?”

The mother answered, “God made Adam and Eve; they had children and, so all mankind was made.”

A few days later, the little girl asked her father the same question. The father answered, “Many years ago there were monkeys, and we developed from them.”

The confused girl returns to her mother and says, “Mom, how is it possible that you told me that the human race was created by God, and Papa says we developed from monkeys?”

The Mother answers, “Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about the origin of my side of the family, and your father told you about his side.”

___________________________________________________________________

I know, you’re all here for the contest portion of this post. Recently, the possibility of not returning to my current position due to the floppy paw has been brought up. Something about being in front of a computer for 9 hours a day not being conducive to having full use of my arm. I was asked “Have you thought about what job you would do if you couldn’t go back to what you were doing?”

::: blink, blink ::::

::: deafening silence :::::

I hadn’t even considered that. Not on my radar at all. My thoughts were: Doctor fix. Do PT. All better! Return to my job. That makes sense, doesn’t it?

Apparently not.

So the contest… give me an answer. What job could I do? or What job would you do? Don’t worry about education or talent requirements. No answer is too silly or too serious. It just can’t be sitting in front of and using a computer all day.

To get you all started, the first two that came to my mind are:

  1. phone sex operator
  2. pastor

No, I do not have issues, why do you ask?

The prize? How about prizes? Three lucky winners!

fiber 005

2 oz of Wooly Wonka 100% Superfine Merino in Wood Duck.

stash 012

2 skeins of Knit Picks Gossamer in Carribean

pirate

1 skein of Yarn Pirate BFL Sock Yarn in Cranberry Ice

Here’s a review:

  • Post your answer to the question “What job could I do?” or “What job would you do?” by 4 p.m. Pacific time on Saturday, 22 March.
  • Let me know if you only knit or if you knit and spin. (I kept typing sit and spin)
  • Random number generator will pick three lucky winners.
  • I may even throw in a special prize if you make me pee my pants

Saturday Sky on a Thursday Bloglines

thunderstorm-004.jpg

 Yeah, it’s Sunday.   So?  :D

Yesterday’s weather: High of 63F (17C) and low of  45F (7C).  It snowed.  In So. Cal.  Only 40 minutes from me.  I will never whine about 120F (49C)again.

Well, at least until next summer.

Obviously, no knitting has occurred due to the storm front, a floppy paw, mad dog sweater knitting and pesky p3togtbl’s.  I did however stop at JoAnnes yesterday and bought hot pink fun fur.

Take a moment.

Yeah.

I’m thinking an accent at the collar of Jelly’s sweater and then edging around the blanket/ assmat I want to knit.

::: BREAKING NEWS BLOGLINES !!! :::

I won!  I WON!  I won something on Dave’s blog.  I’m ferklempt!  If you haven’t been there yet (and I mean really, who hasn’t visited his awesome blog), go now.   Plus, he’s giving away an exclusive Dave Daniels pattern.  Psssst… although I hit the Mercantile again yesterday, there is still some of his wonderful yarn left.  Go, shop!  We need to clean him out!
