My true love gave to me…. an FO because of an Aussie.
Hey, it rhymed. Julia shawl, details here. But I will tell you that it took almost a year to knit. Because life. Well, and ALL the stockinette was slightly boring.
I’m now “working” on the sweater I started last February. I only have a sleeve and the bottom edge to finish. Again, life. I’m trying to buckle down now that it is cold and the month that Cookie makes me do things. In case you were wondering, she’s been making me do things since 2013. I don’t care if she now wants to be a Cow, she’ll always be a crisp, yummy, chocolate chip with walnuts. Because I want nuts today. Yes, there is a joke in there somewhere.
Happy Wednesday y’all!
p.s. yes, I know it is the 6th.
Seven FOs for the year. In there is my first sweater (about three years in the making) and some cotton socks that sucked my will to live. There are the mitts and shawl that I had to make to match the hat I needed to knit to keep me warm after jiu jitsu. There’s the “sweaty cotton” washcloth (actually 2) that I took camping and finished at Hurricane Harbor. My favorite is the coffee hat. Lovely yarn, from a lovely friend ended with a fun and much loved knit.
In anticipation of the annual CMMDI, I tried to finish one more project.
8 rows and a cast off short. I do however predict it will be my first FO of 2016. I may have even dug out my the sweater that I cast on (and knit most of) right after I finished the first one.
Hope y’all have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve.
This was the summer of not knitting socks. Or knitting much of anything really. I kind of wonder if people still knit.
Texas and I did things that involved staying cool. There wasn’t a lot of jiu jitsu on my part because it was just too hot and I only have so many tablespoons. I think we rode bikes together once, maybe twice when that cold front came through. He may have been crazy enough to go out, but well, he is a boy.
We never got to that second camping trip because the temperatures hit 108 and we really didn’t need to see what would happen to the things in my head. We ended up in New Braunfels and San Antonio instead. Rafting the river was so relaxing. Kayaking was awesome because I could pretty much dump myself into the water if I got too hot or just float with the current if I got too tired.
My body has definitely noticed the whole “taking it easy” trend and I can’t wait until it cools off and I can try to work out regularly again. (aka, I gained weight)
Hannibal I mean Harry to our little family. We spent a horrific amount of time trolling Fort Worth (or FTW as people like to shorten it to) for nicer neighborhoods and decently reviewed apartment complexes. Neither of us completely lost our shit on the neighbors here. I am surprisingly ready to pack all this up and GTFO.
So, knitting. I have the wash cloth that I cast on the day before our camping trip. I know. A wash cloth. I totally didn’t care if it got sweaty or wet or dirty or whatever happens when you do ALL the things out doors. I started it July 24th and finished it today. Details here if you’re really interested. I’m even fixin’ ta cast on another in the opposite colors.
I knit a little on that Julia that some Aussie chick made me start. I had to rip it back a bit because I seriously overestimated my knitting while drugged abilities. I’m back on track and about ready to change colors. YEAH!
Other than that, I bought yarn for a sweater knit along that starts tonight. (Obviously I’m not there. People! Blerg!) I might cast on for it tomorrow while Texas is at the Farm. Oh, and I’m considering doing a serious de-stash since we’re downsizing when we move.
Happy Fall Y’all!
I’m still not certain what happened to March, but I think it went something like this:
- I went to L.A.
- Saw a live UFC event
- Had my Rituxan
- Became more medically interesting
- Celebrated Texas turning 35
- Knit a bit on a sweater
I want to add more length, but I’m kind of tired of it. However, I think I have a Julia, a pair of socks, and may have bought Romi’s 2015 Mystery Shawl. (I’m blaming Margene for this one) At least I know I’ll like it, since I love almost all of her designs.
Now I just have to pick my two colors. It is going to be Beaverslide, but I haven’t been able to narrow it down further than this:
Although, I am leaning towards the green and white or the purple and white. What are you doing this weekend?
Happy Easter y’all!
Did you know that people still blog? I cruised through feedly today and realized all y’all are busy. All I’ve gotten done I the past few weeks is this:
Project: Last Chance Sweater aka February Lady (Ravelry)
Started: March 10, 2012
Yes, it took almost three years to finish. I’m o.k. with that. I finally finished it and it will be good for layering. Now I really want to cast on for another sweater. Maybe it is Iceageddon 2.0? Or just that I’m really happy to have a sweater I made and didn’t hate. She’s taking a bath and I’ll have to figure out where to block her.
What are you doing today?
So I’ll let her take the blame.
I finished out my Manos trilogy with mitts and a scarf. I knit Texas a hat for his big head. Then, someone sent me yarn to make the coffee hat.
I’m thinking brown mitts with a blue cup at the wrist to match the hat. I may have a thing about matching my accessories. In the meantime, I’m cruising for a pattern that isn’t a mystery and still avoiding the sweater I said was going to finish.
Happy Tuesday y’all!
Some Christmas knitting, Jiu Bitsy ™ promotion day, and hello!?! A record player!
My first three records make me seem a little schizo. Fleetwood Mac, Violent Femmes, and Neil Diamond. No, you really don’t want to see my mp3 library. It gets worse.
Luckily, we have Half Price Books and I can get albums for only $4. I’m being picky, because you know I can go all crazy hoarder in 2.5 seconds.
I’m also giving two huge boxes of yarn to a 13 year old. Bad color choices, bad yarn choices, left over Purling Dervish stuff, and OMG! WTF was I thinking yarn. I was going to ask if she liked cross stitch and maybe clear out some of that.
I’m making room for fitness stuff. Our bikes, the weight bench, the stack of mats Santa brought. They’re kind of taking over the second bedroom. I don’t know either.
Not such a great picture, but the Maggie does not tolerate any interruptions to her sleep.
Sadly, the hat would have only fit Maggie. After all of the increases, I realized that it wasn’t going to work. On the other hand, I like doing color work, so I’ll start it again soon. I also think that I want to switch the colors and have a brown background.
Today, I’m casting on for something else and watching Gone With The Wind. We still don’t know if Texas is working tomorrow, so we’ve made no plans. Well, except 8 a.m. jiu bitsy. Yes, really. I’m thinking under caffeinated rolling will be cathartic.
Or I’ll need bail.
What are your plans for tomorrow?
Happy Wednesday y’all!
