I worked out at the land yesterday.  I didn’t really want to leave the lake, but I did.  I may have eluded to some things in email, but here is the whole story.

There’s a building out there, mostly full of junk.  There is also some old furniture in good condition, and I loves me some old furniture, so it is worth going through. Yesterday morning, in my pouty, moody, “I don’t want to go” state, I said we should just burn the thing down.

I don’t want to leave the lake either mom!

Common sense (Texas) prevailed for a while and I got to take my anger out by setting a huge teddy bear on fire.

*ahem*

But I digress.

He reminded me that we were going to use the tin for animal shelters and he wanted to see if some of the wood was salvageable for the fish shack.  We we did get a couple of nice chest of drawers and some shelves out.

By the end of the day, we had found a wild mold problem in the one room and Texas was agreeing with my original assessment.  So this weekend?  If it’s not too windy?  I get to burn a building down.  WOOT!

Ooops! Hey look!  Manic Monday on a Tuesday, because I’m guessing Monday was really manic.

Of all your favorite foods, which one would you find the most difficult to give up for the rest of your life? Fruits.  There is something so right about melons in the summer, strawberries and oranges, oh let’s not forget grapefruits!  A nice crispy apple or pear.  YUM! Lasagna

If you could be a contestant on any game show, past or present, which show would you pick? Queen for a Day. Because honey, I would rock those kitten heels and pearls and I need a new washer and dryer.  WHAT? Survivor

I’ve also discovered that, I’m a lefty.  (I know Cookie, I’ll beat you to the punchline.  Do they allow that in Texas?)  Between the floppy and the eye thing, I shoot (and aim) better with my left arm.  I also cast a rod better with it.  I’ve noticed that I’ve slowly been doing more and more with my left instead of my right.  Who knows, maybe I’ve really been a lefty all my life.

As Texas said “back in the day, they used to stop kids from using their left hand”.  I didn’t know if I was suppossed to laugh or be miffed.

‡Proof of knitting on the plane. Luckily, everything made it through security… including me. Apparently Texas doesn’t issue licenses immediately – you have to wait for them to mail it to you – all you get is a little piece of paper with your info on. Which doesn’t help if you have to fly. Oh, and I don’t have a valid passport yet. Yeah. Thankfully, I have a government ID and was smart enough to take along my birth certificate. Amazing how every screener had different requirements for getting through.

§ On the first leg, I sat with a very nice young man who was heading to Oregon to work for the winter. His sister crochets and he had a lot of questions about all the needles. I was also approached several times while sitting in the various airports waiting for flights by people who knit or crochet. Apparently dpns are still a mystery and intimidating to knitters. It’s just sticks and string.

‡L.A. traffic jam as seen from the shuttle bus. Typical rubbernecking caused this back up. A very nice Mustang Cobra was totaled on the side of the road… all lanes were open, we just had to slow down to look. ARGH! Don’t get me wrong, I loved L.A. when I lived there (the Mojave desert, not so much) but traffic always drove me batty and there is a smell to L.A. that is indescribable. Kind of like how NYC has it’s own smell. The weather was perfect when I was out there and yes, I missed that just a little.

‡I don’t think “dropped a valve” or “broke a gear tooth” are things you want to hear when talking about an engine. Yep. I finally killed the ole girl. Texas is going to take her apart today to get a better look. I’m already shopping for replacements. I just have to figure out how to entertain myself until it’s fixed or replaced.

/sigh

‡ Oh! I warped the loom yesterday and loaded the shuttles last night. I may actually get some weaving done if the arm chills out. As a back-up, I’ve pulled out my weavettes and some yarn.

‡ It’s nice to start finding stuff after moving. Although the knit socks are still eluding me. Which is both saddening and maddening at the same time.

‡ Speaking of finding things… I found a plethora of these in the “grove” of little trees. I’m walking through and marking for removal since they’re so crowded. Texas is also working on thinning out around the pond. There have been some awesome bonfires between the trees and the clippings.

‡ Another beautiful sunrise. I know. Enough with the sunrise and sunset pictures. But they’re so beautiful and each one is different. And they’re inspiration for me to get my butt in gear and walk every morning.

§ What is the most expensive meal you’ve ever eaten? For my 13th birthday, my dad took me to Stokesay Castle to eat.  Escargot and real Cesar salad made at the table.  Lobster and Shirley Temple’s.  I felt so grown up.  Unless you count the free meals I got when I waitressed at a fancy schmancy place.
§ What is the fastest speed you’ve ever traveled in a car? Buried the needle.  Don’t ask.  O.k. fine.  I had bought a Mustang GT off the showroom floor many years ago.  I also happened to know the township cops quite well.  I took it to 110 and got nervous, so one of the cops got in and took it all the way up.
§ What is the highest building you’ve ever been to the top floor of? Empire State.
