And then there was that.

Apparently, I am getting too old to party like it’s my birthday for a whole week. I barely survived 3 days. But what a fun three days it was! We tried restaraunts new to us and went to some favorites.  There was my semi-annual adult beverage, which…WOO!

I made it to the Botanical Gardens when stuff was in bloom. (There may have been a little too much blooming going on for ye old allergy meds to handle.) I would really like to cruise by during the summer and fall too. oh, and I almost walked out with the most adorable little Japanese Maple bonsai.

Can I just say, what a difference a few years and about 80 pounds makes? I was winded and done by the time we made it to the Japanese Garden last time. This time? We lapped that sucker a couple of times ( I think I finally saw it all) and then headed to a West 7th for lunch and more walking.

There also may have been some movie watching in the form of The Longest Ride. Thankfully, we saw it at a theater and there was no ugly crying. Because, well, we just don’t ugly cry in public.

On my actual birthday, he ran for fresh coffee and a blueberry muffin for me, but we ended up having steak for breakfast. I’ll have a nice treat tomorrow morning. Energy for Jiu jitsu. What!?! That’s my excuse!

I was going to knit for a few hours tonight, but got wrapped up in a book that was a present. It was a nice change from all of the going I did this weekend.

Did I mention that we also rode about 9 miles? We took it slow and adjusted  my bike as we went. Amazing what an extra inch will do for your ride.

Happy Monday y’all! Hope you had a great weekend!

I think there is a conspiracy afoot*

I need to learn crochet enough to make one of these. I like the stained glass version too.  I think I’m going to end up at the lake for a few hours (or days) picking brains.

I’m running away to Dallas twice this week. Once to be a research subject and once for a luncheon with local NMO peeps and The Wizard. I’m still debating the luncheon. Something about denial and/or just wanting to rest.

Maybe I’ll pretend I’m going and have a day for me away from the farm. Maybe I’ll just meet my husband for lunch in town.

I didn’t get as far as I wanted in the past week, but I started one of these before I met Texas. I guess it’s a win?  I have a goal for next week, so bring on the bad daytime television!

Happy Monday y’all!

*to keep me busy and tired I mean, I started this post at 10 a.m.

Manic Monday – Memorial Day Edition

Sometimes it is good to have someone to talk things* through with. Sometimes, that person may end up regretting it. I now have ALL the perky!

So much so, I decided to tackle this mess:

And turn it into this:

image

Before noon. On a Monday. Granted, it is a holiday Monday, but we can just skip right over that part.

And, we won’t talk about how it got that bad to begin with. Luckily, there were quite a few unpacked boxes from over a year ago, so it moved pretty fast. I was also able to recycle some clothing that is now too big.

Just ignore the fact that I may be anal enough to not only hang my t-shirts, but also to organize them by color. Be glad I didn’t go full throttle and iron them today too.

Hey look! One finished sock! It’s hanging out with the one that I cast on for this morning for the first day of Summer of Socks. I don’t know where this is going.  At the end of the summer I’ll either have a couple of  pairs of socks or a bunch of yarn balls attached to needles. You know me.

With the cockamamie scheme I came up with, I could totally make a schtick out of this Manic Monday Sock thing. But that would be stealing and we don’t do that.

Happy Monday people! Go forth and enjoy the week!

I’m going to try to find where the awesome post I wrote went to. Have you seen it?

*Things just ended up being an over-the-counter thing that was making me  feel all drunk and disorderly for half the day.

The tractor is running!

I spent some time on it yesterday when I got home from the lake.  I think I’m happy about that. It will be even better once someone replaces the old seat. It’s a tad bouncy for my bad discs.

I forgot about that part and may have done too much.

Today, while I am recovering, I’m playing Fire Marshal Squishy. I was a bad blogger and forgot to take before pictures of this section. I did get pictures of the next part, but I doubt we’ll get to burning that today.

Well, he kind of set fire to all of the underbrush. *ahem* Apparently I failed as a fire marshal.  Next time, I’ll make him go to the house for drinks.

Or take the accelerant and matches with me.

What did you do today?

Report from the front lines

There was this whole, big post I started in L.A.  Let’s just say, I had an awesome time, met new people and got a lot of information.  I’ll share more at a later date, but today, I have additions to the prize!!

You already are in the running for all this great stuff:

  • A beautiful leaf motif shawl and itty, bitty things (cupcake, gnome, chicken, zombie and armadillo) from that Sarah!
  • A minion from our Cookie!
  • 2 skeins of Purling Dervish County Road worsted in the colorway Hope Grows.
  • The Hope Grows Cowl

But now, included in that prize pack are the following:

602 yards of 2-ply merino, color Cassis, hand-spun by that machine we all know and love, Cookie.

Your very own copy of Saving Each Other by Victoria Jackson and Ali Guthy. (you can also purchase one for yourself since they are donating their earnings to The Guthy Jackson Charitable Foundation)

Saving Each Other: A Mother Daughter Love Story begins just as Victoria and Bill learn of Ali’s disease, starting them on a powerful journey to save Ali, their only daughter, including bringing together a team of more than fifty of the world’s leading experts in autoimmune and NMO-related diseases to
create the Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation.

Told in alternating viewpoints, Victoria and Ali narrate their very different journeys of coming to terms with the lack of control that neither mother nor daughter have over NMO, and their pioneering efforts and courage to take their fight to a global level.

How can you win this fantastic prize package?

  • Donations can be made through October 31, 20112October 26, 2012 at the Guthy Jackson website.
  • Every $10 donated gets you one entry in the drawing.
  • One share of this on your blog or Facebook gets you one entry (let me know you did).
  • You must put Stacey Pope in the purpose section or email me a copy of your donation receipt.
  • Drawing will be done on November 1, 2012

Go forth and donate!  Only 2 days left!

Someday in the near-ish future: fun with elevators, crazy people and first time shot drinkers.

Happy Monday y’all!

UM, I never promised you an FO

I did promise Cookie (and maybe Angie) one, but well, it’s going to have to wait until they figure out this new hell that has been bestowed upon me.

Since it’s Monday and he left yesterday and I’m in no mood to be happy and chipper and cheery, here’s my contribution to Manic Monday:

Do you read an actual print newspaper? If so, how often? Yes.  Not often as the crap they call a newspaper here is not worth the  paper it’s printed on.  Occasionally, I’ll get a Sunday paper or if there’s a good front page story.

What is your main source of news? Bloggers?  Friends?  If I’m talking to someone and they say “have you heard” I’ll usually go look it up.  Or if I’m flipping through the channels and see an interesting story or “breaking headline” I’ll stop.

Do you believe that it’s possible for the media to be unbiased? Not anymore.  Sure, there may be reporters out there that try to be unbiased, but the networks decide which way the story is going to go.  Plus there’s the whole phenomenon of the media sensationalizing every.single.little.thing.

Happy Monday Bitches.

OCD Monday

Manic Monday Schtuff:

01.  What is one thing that you would change about yourself if you could?

I would be kinder to children and idiots.  NOT!   Um.  Hmmm.  I’d be healthier?

02.  Name three exotic countries you would like to visit:

Belize, Morocco and Texas (erm, wait, I live there) Tonga.

03.  What do you think the secret to life is?

Live, love and laugh.  Share your life with others.

So, yeah.  I’ve been on a little cleaning binge this morning.  This house is going to be SPOTLESS!  It’s relieving stress and burning off some of the effects of the Provigil.

Which I probably shouldn’t have taken on a clear liquid diet day.  Just sayin’.  I’m running around like a gerbil on meth.

O.o

If you catch me talking about cleaning the floors with a tooth brush, send an intervention team.  Mmmkay?

Besides, if something happens, what would people think if they came here to an unclean house?  I mean, it’s not like I do anything all day.  I’m also packing an emergency knitting bag just in case I’m stuck away from home for a while.

ETA: I just realized, drinking 8 ounces every 15 mins is going to make the ordeal 4 HOURS LONG!!! WTF?

♥  ♥  ♥  ♥  ♥

Here’s some random thoughts:

  1. Taxman :: axeman
  2. Material :: girl
  3. Format :: font

Happy Monday y’all!

ETA:  Yes, I wrote this on Monday… if y’all don’t see it til Tuesday (like my last post) it’s google reader.  They’re not picking up my one feed for 24 hours.  PFFFT on GoogleReader.  I think they may have hired a codemonkey from bloglines.

Yeah.  That would be the driveway/road to the house.  Bet you could buy it cheap!

And now for the manic part:

What is the longest love relationship (partner) you have had, and if it has ended, why? 5 years (if you don’t count the never-ending marriage.  Don’t ask.)  Why did it end?  Wow. Um.  We both got together for so many messed up reasons.  My part in the end was I started  focusing on building a career and J. just wanted to work and party.  I gave in to things I didn’t want to , J. did the same and we never really communicated.  My fault just as much as J’s.  We won’t even talk about the cheating.  It became a tit-fot-tat thing and blew up.  Looking back, I wonder if we ever knew each other at all.

What is on your bedside table? My CPAP,  a bottle of my sleeping pills, The Far Sweet Thing, my shots, and my .40.

How many pillows do you have on your bed? Do you make your bed every day? Three.  When I lived alone, I had five.  I should totally pull the ones from the spare bed.  Yes, I make it everyday.  Isn’t that what good girls do?  I like things neat.  What can I say.

Happy Monday y’all!
