Driving in the Harbor was seriously hindered yesterday and as I was returning from taking Texas to the airport this morning, I think I saw that the one neighbor had a recreation of Jonestown going on in their front yard.

The one house across the lake put on an awesome show (we’re talking about $20K in fireworks) and I plan on floating the boat out to watch the big shows tonight.

And just because I’m in a mood, the week in review.  Mostly.

Oh yeah… Teh Squish is goin’ there.

10 Ways to Entertain a Child

1.  Television… the new babysitter.

2.  Teach them how to skin a catfish and make a pretty sparkly bedazzled purse for their momma with the skins.

3.  Give them lots of sugar and soda and let them do pretty much whatever they want and then hand them back to their parents.

4.  Manual labor… mow the lawn, clean the gutters, clear weeds from the flower beds.

5.  While we’re going there, vacuum, mop and do laundry too.

6.  Enroll them in every VBS you can find… doesn’t matter the church… just get em there.

7.  Let the oldest (11) take the 3 others (4,5 and 8) out alone on a paddle boat out of your sight and unsupervised. (but hey, they had life jackets)

8.  Take the community pool and fill it with dirt, so they can just hang out at the park and think of things to entertain themselves with… like stealing signs, trashcans and lighting small fires.

9.  Give them to your drunken mother-in-law to watch… she’ll keep them entertained.

10.  Do the things on this list… especially since you’ve gotten your 3rd DUI since Memorial Day.

Because it took me all week to respond to the 3 comments I got on the last one.  O.o

after 24 hours of rain

We’ve had snakes, plague (ask Skinny PC about the flies), locusts, frogs and 12 inches of rain in 24 hours.  I’m building an ark.  Seriously.

We even have lightening bugs this year.  This will be my unofficial 3rd summer here in TX (remember, I came to visit and never really left) and it’s the first time I’ve seen them.  Skinny PC says it’s been a loooooong time.

Now, if someone could please tell me what I did with my cell phone and the cord to download pictures off of it, I could show you how the boat was up on the dock steps this morning.

However, I can show you this!  The difference in the lake level between last night and today. See how you could see under the dock yesterday?

I figure we have 2 more days of runoff filling the lake.  I’m also guessing that the dock is going to be under water tonight or tomorrow if this keeps up.  The neighbor’s already is.

Even more exciting is that the hill we live on is going to end up “in” the lake.

That’s about an inch of sand that was stopped by a hose.  I think it’s from the driveway.  The sand, not the picture.

Anywhoooooo!

Here’s some fill-in’s since Carrie reminded me I was going to post today.

1. Sex umm… I mean… ummm… ice after physical therapy feels great.

3. Right now, I could just fall asleep.
4. How about if you shut up right now, I won’t smack you?
5. A Reliable Wife (the book people!) is something I highly recommend!
6. Imagine there’s no Heaven, it’s easy if you try.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeep, tomorrow my plans include labels, labels, labels or boating if the lake calms down and Sunday, I want to sleeeeeeeeeep some more!  It’s hot and humid here peeps.  Not much else you really want to do during the day.

01. I spent all day (well 7 hours) on the lake yesterday with Angie, Tiff and her daughter. Yes, a four year old. I did not kill the spawnling. She was well behaved.

02. I actually went in the lake.  They showed me this little cove with an island where we could just push the pontoon onto a sand bar. All I kept hearing in my head as we were pulling up was this:

03. Because of the medication I’m on, I ended up wearing a t-shirt and capri’s.  Not next time!  As long as I get the lotion on right anyway. *ahem*  Don’t ask about the 3 sunburned streaks.  It’s ummmm… interesting.  Almost zebra like.  O.o

04. We’re planning on doing this every weekend.  All I need are some floaties or a lawn chair.  Yes, they were sitting on the sandbars in lawn chairs.

05. Oh, and a cowboy hat.  I neeeeeed one.  And I need to be able to get it wet.

06. I’m going to make this table for either our deck or the seating area by the dock.  Just because it’s fun.

07. Cajun Bayou grand opening was Saturday.  FUN!  They had a Zydeco band and dancing and horseshoes.  While I don’t drink that often, it was that perfect combo of a hot summer evening (we got there at 630), good food, good friends, sitting on the tailgate of a truck, … and the ice cold beer tasted wonderful.

08.  I forgot what eight was for.

09. OMG!  Best thing ever for my little OCD binges.

10. I’m tired. Exhausted actually. I assume I need more coffee… or at least better coffee.  I’m thinking of making this recipe after I stop by Coffee City and pick up some good beans.   I usually get their breakfast blend, but they just added Bulls Eye Blend and Jumpstart Java.  Mmmmmm.

Broken

Today starrted foggy – both the sky and my brain.  :D   But, it’s going to be 80 today and Texas set up my area on the deck this morning so i can sit in the shade and watch him clean up the mess from the fire.

Be afraid

For many reasons:

01.  heading to Arkansas by way of back woods, middle of nowhere TX.  If I start hearing dueling banjos?  I’m so outta there.

02. An FO!

Details here, since I’m getting ready to bug outta the Harbor.

03.  Upcoming arm surgery on the 1st.  Yes, the floppy again.  There are things going on in the elbow that should not be going on. Yes, 3 surgeries all rolled into one day.  You remember my wonderful attitudes from the last two right?  (at least Texas will be there and home for at least one week of recovery)

04.  Texas and me together for the weekend in a hotel in AR.  muwahahahahahahahahahahahah

05.  Skinny Porkchop left unsupervised in the Harbor for the weekend.  O.o

So, be afraid my little darlings, be very afraid.
