After watching my mom and I have fun taking classes, Nacogdoches finally gave in and decided to try rigid heddle weaving. ( I may be
enabling encouraging friends lately – hi Mo and D!) Even though I’ve taken the beginner’s class, she wanted me to tag along.
We stayed at the Post Oak RV park in the cutest little cabin. There are tiny houses for rent in the area and I may do that next time. I finished my last Spunky Club weaving while there, so I am back on track. (details here)
Nacogdoches got me that pair of socks in the upper left corner. How true they are. That bit of pink in the bottom corner is a gift from the lovely Maureen. Socks, hankies to spin and a project bag. I also recently received a pen from Cheryl that her husband made. That thing is ah-mazeing! If I can get a link to his stuff, I will share it here. He makes some beautiful wood projects.
Happy Monday y’all! I’m off to L.A. For the week. What do you have planned?
I was going to pose this Saturday, but life.
Our JessaLu has been blogging for 12 years now and if you go over there and comment, you have a chance to win one of her fabulous bags. Mention me and I get a bonus entry. 50 comments and she adds another prize to the pool.
I started this blog about 6 months before her, but there are a bunch of us from the “Class of 2005” that are still around. Some of us post a bunch, and some of us aren’t that consistent (because FB and Twitter and Ravelry or life).
I’d like to make a better effort to blog again because I would like a slower pace. Everything on FB and Twitter is instantaneous. I’ve shut off my phone notifications for both and have been making an effort to step away a little. I noticed I was reposting a ton of memes instead of quality posts. I really enjoy those “memories” that pop up every day and I’d like to see my life instead of something meaningless.
I’m totally not doing a “new year, new me” post. I’ve just noticed things in my life that I would like to change.
Like getting this weaving going. This will be the first project on Mama Cass. (Someone reminded me that I need to name my lovelies)
Happy Monday y’all!
Or should I say Happy Random Tuesday in January? I’m being held hostage by the promise of someone coming to fix the air conditioning. Because it might get to 80F this week. Homie don’t sleep hot.
It is that time of year again. What used to be Cookie Made Me Do It has become Cow Made Me Do It.
So the Holy Mother of All Crankiness is making me clear out some of my WIPs and she made me cast on a sweater. In Noro. I must have committed some huge sin.*
I might, might, do a post of everything I finhed last year, but don’t hold your breath. What are you working on today.
Happy Tuesday y’all!
* I’m actually enjoying knitting with some bigger yarn and the sin may be blaming her. However, she drug me into mittens years ago and will never live it down.
Because we all gotta have them, right?
Wax my wood
Assemble my new loom
Put October’s Spunky Eclectic project on the old loom and weave a row or two.
Figure out how I’m going to finish off my last woven project
Work on thing that was going to be for my swap partner, but I never finished.
Speaking of that last woven project.
Grapes and Coal – warp spun by Cookie.
Happy Thursday y’all!
Three days of keeping up with Rosie made me just want to sit on the couch and weave. Ok, 3 days of Rosie and two nights of not sleeping well.
There was no What’s for Dinner Wednesday because I picked up rotisserie chicken from Boston Market. Texas didn’t want to go to the gym after work, so I had to come up with dinner on the fly.
F.N. Pope (Fish Nugget) died last night, so I cleaned the tank and picked up Eric IV aka Quad Shot today. Fishy was a “rescue” fish, so he came with his name. With Quad Shot went back to naming all of our fighting fish Eric. The first two commited suicide and Trey (Eric III) was just belly up one day.
What are you doing today?
Tuesday’s Rituxan meant a bunch of downtime and a lot of getting stuff done that had been sitting around awhile.
I finished Narcos, Lizzie Borden, a bunch of movies, a washcloth, a punch needle thing I started a LONG time ago, and Cookie’s basket. (Which ended up being Rosie’s basket).
Happy Sunday y’all!
Someone made me make goals for the past few months. This month, one of them was to warp my inkle. I kind of ran right through that goal and also wove it. It is a mess, but whatever.
Next up? Putting my Spunky weaving club warp on my rigid heddle.
What are you doing today?
Even though I was all “just out of the pool and air dried”, I had to take the picture. I’ve since woven in the ends. After taking a real weaving class (more on that later) instead of just winging it off the internet,I have been having fun.
This was my first time working from a pattern and using a swing machine to finish.
The kit was purchased from Spunky Eclectic and I ended up joining her weaving club. If you were ever on the edge about buying a weaving kit from her? DO IT!!! More details can be found here.
