Hello Beautiful New Year!

I finished exactly two fiber related projects last year. One a knit for someone else and one a woven scarf. I worked on a couple of knits, but frogged or forgot about most. I received my weaving club every two months and didn’t work on a single one. I did some cross stitch and embroidery. I spent time at the pool. I rode in the Sam’s Club Bike MS150. I did no Jiu Jitsu. I was sick for about half the year. I’m still down with the sickness and hope to have better answers next year. I broke a rib, my momma went septic on us. I almost gave up the blog and domain. It was an odd year. I think the word of the year was “apathetic”. It was like I just took a year off.

I’m not doing a whole “new year, new me” thing. I just need to get back on track.

Of course, January always means a month of CMMDI. Here’s a peek at everything I have laying around:

Yeah. I may also have a tiny addiction to JessaLu bags.

Happy New Year y’all!

So, that just happened

I blame Rosie since she bought a sewing machine. The black and white one wraps a little, so I have some hand sewing to tack down the split. Because no one wants to see my undies while I’m trolling around town.

While not busy making pretty sun dresses, I’m planning a weekend camping trip. While knitting, swimming, biking, and cross stitching.  I may also be going to a weaving class. That forced “vacation” has me doing ALL the things.

Life is too short y’all, go out and grab it by the balls!

I think there is a conspiracy afoot*

I need to learn crochet enough to make one of these. I like the stained glass version too.  I think I’m going to end up at the lake for a few hours (or days) picking brains.

I’m running away to Dallas twice this week. Once to be a research subject and once for a luncheon with local NMO peeps and The Wizard. I’m still debating the luncheon. Something about denial and/or just wanting to rest.

Maybe I’ll pretend I’m going and have a day for me away from the farm. Maybe I’ll just meet my husband for lunch in town.

I didn’t get as far as I wanted in the past week, but I started one of these before I met Texas. I guess it’s a win?  I have a goal for next week, so bring on the bad daytime television!

Happy Monday y’all!

*to keep me busy and tired I mean, I started this post at 10 a.m.

Hello September!

This means we’re one month closer to cool. Yes, it is still in the 100’s here. (37+ for you Celsius people)

Thank God all y’all are out having a life this weekend! I finally got caught up on my blogs. Between naps and all that.

made me

So, here’s the plan. Kind of. Maybe. I have a Sweetheart Tree thing (Blackberry Heart. Fitting if it weren’t cute too) that I’ve let sit for a while. I messed up the count a bit and have to rip out some stitches. Besides, it’s 1 strand over 28 count and I want to finish it before the old takes over my eyes. The other is Pumpkins 4 Sale. I do love me some pumpkins and fall.

Texas is resuming the Sunday breakfast making since the stove is fully functional. He used to like floppy bacon. Until we watched a Monsters Inside Me about trichinosis yesterday. He also used to walk outside barefoot until sometime back in March when we watched one on something some guy picked up walking in his yard.

I’m telling you, that show can be dangerous.

Is anyone else going to watch The Man With the 132 lb Scrotum tonight? It sounds horrifying and yet the medically interesting part of me is thinking “well, that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about”.

Some days, it’s the little things.

Happy Sunday y’all!

I think I was hit by a bus*

SoS ’13 is winding down. YEAH!!! I am one repeat and some ribbing from finishing one pair, have one footie completed and I finished the pair I started during SoS ’12.  Not bad for the arm. (Which I am going to address with a doctor, after much gnashing, wailing and denial)

made me

With that done, (and eating up 3 months of the year) we needed a plan. So for the September portion of Cookie Made Me Do It, after much** discussion, we’re veering down a different kind of fiber path. Needlework.

Needlework is a broad term for the handicrafts of decorative sewing and textile arts. Anything that uses a needle for construction can be called needlework. The definition may expand to include related textile crafts such as a crochet hook, or tatting shuttles.

Since the definition of it is pretty broad, all y’all can play along. You! Yes! I am talking to you.

Embroidery, cross stitch, knitting, crocheting, and I think even weavettes should count since you use a needle to weave. Right?!?  And if we’re going down that road, since a crochet hook counts, couldn’t we technically say an orifice hook and some wool counts too?

◊  ◊  ◊  ◊  ◊

In other news, I really need to stop watching Monsters Inside Me. Or I need to make other people watch it with me. (They’re showing 5 or 6 in a row today) It’s interesting and informative, but DUDE!  People who may have certain tendencies for cleanliness probably shouldn’t watch it.

* It’s either the infusion, or someone actually did throw me under the bus somewhere. Just sayin’

**If by much, I mean one blog comment and an e-mail or two. Oh, and not actually asking Cookie this time since she’s busy and tired over there.

If I could turn the page in time

  • Project: Jackie Oh!
  • Designer: Sam Sarah
  • Start: 7 Oct 2010
  • Finish: 21 Oct 2010
  • Mods: Used Gentle Art Simply Shaker Fragrant Cloves, Gentle Art Sampler Threads Burnt Orange and Weeks Dye Works Celedon instead of the called for Crescent Colors.
  • Thoughts: Really should have been a quick stitch, but with the traveling and general blechies, took a little longer. I actually finished most of it in one day of flying and the nice man in the seat next to me helped to separate the strands when I needed a new one.  Kindness of strangers and all that. Since this one is a gift and I love Halloween, I may make one for myself.

Happy Friday y’all

Progress on a Sunday?

As someone I love dearly said…

Who are you and where’s that pink hair wearin’ nightclub crawling tattooed city girl we used to know?

Between fishing, cleaning and getting the love shack set up, there has been some fiber progress made.

Icarus increased by two rows, the freezing farmgirl fisher mitts have had a couple of rounds added and I’ve worked on a long forgotten cross stitch project.  They’ve decided to do some “strength training” on ye ole floppy, so everything has been kind of slow going.

Even the play room is in disarray.  Serious disarray.  (I had to take that picture again since someone’s birthday presents were showing in the first couple I took.)  The wall behind me is going to be all shelving and I’m looking for a comfy, cozy chair to curl up in.  I’m thinking this since I plan to have two big leather chairs and ottomans by the fireplace.

I’ve seen a lot of Happy 4th Wishes and prayers posted around the web today and it has inspired me to add my own little prayer: Please God, let the idiots pass out early.

Happy Friday y’all!
